Built in the 1880s, Gruene Hall (pronounced “Green”) is known for bringing in great country musicians. Willie Nelson, Lyle Lovett. They all come here.
Gruene Hall

There is live music seven days a week, and you’ll always find someone on the large dance floor. They have a music calendar on their web site.

The tables are long rows of picnic benches. It’s easy to talk to people sitting near you. Mixed between younger folk and old timers, you’ll find locals and lots of tourists wearing their brand new boots. By the end of the night, most people are exhausted and their boots are off because of the blisters from doing the jitterbug.

Schlitterbahn

The Schlitterbahn Waterpark Resort in New Braunfels, Texas, originally opened in 1979 with four water slides, is built along the cool spring-fed waters of the Comal River. Bob and Billye Henry purchased 40 acres on the Comal River called Landa Resort in the early 1970s. They slowly added the water recreation that is now known as Schlitterbahn West. In 1991, the Henrys bought another 25 acre piece of property known as Camp Warnecke and transformed it into Schlitterbahn East.
